The British Boarding Schools’ Workshop is a focal event in the calendar year for all those involved in working with educational agents, guardians, and international pupils and their parents. We’re excited to be participating again and look forward to seeing many of our school partners and meeting new colleagues across the independent boarding school sector, too. This event will focus on the evolving responsibilities of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) practitioners, exploring the vital roles we play in supporting students through academic transitions. With insightful presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities, this conference is a must for anyone involved in EAP teaching and research.
Understanding the academic potential of a multilingual learner population in the international school setting is extremely complex, since many of the tools available have not been developed and validated using comparable populations. At the same time, academic English language proficiency is key to attainment and progress in these learners, but is often not assessed at all. Our Head of School Partnerships, Dr Helen Wood will be in Brussels to discuss equitable approaches to admissions assessment of multilingual learners.
